Photo on Wood

I said in the last post that I was going to be working on a Momma post today, but I’ve changed my mind. I wanted to do something fun, and I’ve neglected my Crafty corner. Mostly because I haven’t crafted a lot lately, but I’ve done so much in the past year that I really feel like I should share some more.

Last year, we tried to save money over Christmas so I made LOTS of crafts for gifts. I found something on Pinterest that showed how to transfer photos to wood. (I don’t know what the link is anymore because I’ve done so many since the original that I don’t use it anymore.) I took a break over summer, but I can’t wait to start making them again.

I’m just going to share some of the photos of what I’ve made so far. There’s not a lot of writing I can do for the Craft Corner. This is more of a Show section.

Clint cut the first few for me, and then I took over in all areas of the craft. He’s gone for work so I have to do things for myself. Plus, I feel like a badass when I’m cutting the wood. (Also, FYI, I quickly took that sweater off because as much as I love it, it’s not a cutting wood safety outfit.)

It doesn’t take a lot of instruments to do this project. We just printed the photos on regular paper. I also used a paint brush and a cloth.

It’s pretty hard getting the paper off, and not ripping part of the photo off. I went through a few before getting it correct. Of course, Anthony (only 18 months at the time) was a lot of help.

Finished Products. I don’t think this is all of them, but it’s the ones I made before Christmas, and a few after. As I look at these, I can tell which ones I made first, and which I made as I learned more.

Other than writing and being a mom, I needed something else in my life. This is the perfect hobby for me. I can display photos I’ve taken, and I can be artistic without having to draw (I don’t draw.)

I’ll share more as I do them. I have to start again as soon as I buy some more wood.

For a while, I had considered trying to sell them, but I’m not good enough at cutting the wood straight or doing certain sizes. I print the photos and go from there. I’m not a perfectionist, and I think that is what is needed to sell them.

Thanks for reading. Happy Monday.
