This Week’s Fun

We are a bit exhausted this week, and haven’t done as much as we would like. The cold is slowing us down. We really didn’t do a lot this week.

To be perfectly honest, it’s kind of been a shit week. This is combination of the deep freeze we live in, a sprained ankle, and things that I have no control over. We made the best of it.

Monday: We got out of the house to go to Canadian Tire. Seems boring, but my kid spent the whole time pointing at things going, “Wow!” “Wow Cool!” “Up High!” It was great.

Plus he loves the car carts

Tuesday: We didn’t leave the house. Kiddo had lots of time with his daddy because I’m trying to get my life organized. We are also working on potty training. It went REALLY well today.

Wednesday: Ugh. Wednesday. First of all I decided to make the best out of the deep freeze morning. With the windchill it was -50. Coldest place in the world. I decided to go outside and do the boiling water in the air trick. I can’t seem to upload a video onto WordPress without getting a Business Account (I am not willing to do that at the moment because I don’t make money at this). So I’m going to attempt to leave the link to my Instagram video of me doing it. Hopefully it’ll work. If not, I will make an edit. Feel free to take a look. It was pretty cool. I’ve done it before, but didn’t have the nerve to throw over my head before. I did a test run and tossed it in front of me to make sure I wouldn’t be hit with boiling water.

The rest of the day wasn’t as fun. I was watching my friend’s daughter, and while walking down the stairs, I missed the last step and twisted my ankle really bad. Really bad. I was worried I broke it. I cried hysterically and scared both the kids. We got through it though. And I love watching the kiddos play. I had SO MANY plans for the day. I was going to do an activity with the kiddos, and we were going to do crafts that she could give her momma. I was going to go to Fitbump at night and see my friends. Instead, I sat with ice on my ankle. In fact, I’m still doing that.

Thursday: It was just as cold as the day before. I had to leave the house because I was watching some tots for Mommy Connections. My ankle seemed to be better when I went to bed last night, but by morning it was super swollen, and I couldn’t walk on it again. I iced it, and then Clint drove me to watch the kids. It was my right ankle so I knew I couldn’t drive. I also had panic attacks thinking about putting on my boots. I ended up wearing Clint’s shoes on over my tensor bandage. It worked out okay, and the kids I watched were amazing as always.

Here’s the thing: I’ve been down on myself for not doing more this week. The whole point of my weekly post is to share the activities my son and I have done. We haven’t done anything. We’ve played a lot, and I’m so relieved to have Clint home this week. Anthony is still working on getting rid of his cold, and I’m limping around. Even though it’s been a crap end to the week, I have to remind myself how lucky I am. I’m lucky Clint was home to help. I’m lucky my kid learns more things all the time, and is content to just play some times. I’m lucky to have the opportunity to hang out with tots for Mommy Connections. Other people have had worse weeks than I have. I’ve spoken to those people. I’m friends with those people, and I’m sad I can’t help them more.

If you’ve had a bad week, I hope things get better for you. My days haven’t been perfect, but of course so many things have made me smile as well. Stay tuned for next Friday’s post when I have MANY more activities to share. I hope. (I’ll have a few more posts to share before that as well.)
